I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 15 plus years experience in direct counseling services to a wide range of clients. I also spent 10 plus years as a school administrator. After retiring from education, I started providing telehealth therapy allowing me to return to my passion for helping and supporting others through difficult times. I am seeing adult clients with a variety of concerns including distressing life events, challenging relationships, grief and loss, caregiving issues among others.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Often times our first session involves clients sharing the reasons they are seeking counseling, information gathering and getting to know the client. Clients can expect me to listen to their concerns, validate their feelings and provide feedback when needed. From there we will begin mapping out ways I can support and guide the client in their journey.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My unique background in education and personal/professional experience with caregiving and grief/loss have left me with a deep understanding and empathy for my clients. I feel there is no substitution for professional and personal experience when it comes to connecting and supporting my clients.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I have extensive experience working with clients navigating grief and loss, caregiving, anxiety and depression. Whether it's the death of loved one, the end of a relationship or marriage, the stress of parenting or caring for a family member or general anxiety/depression, these situations can leave us feeling isolated and alone. My goal is to provide compassionate support while exploring coping skills that work for each individual .

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Having adopted ACT into my practice over the last few years, I find clients benefit from the psychological and emotional flexibility it offers for a variety of issues.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I often use CBT in conjunction with other intervention strategies to assist clients in challenging negative self talk and cognitive distortions that can be the source of emotional pain.

Grief Therapy

Grief and loss are experienced by all humans. How we navigate losses have a profound impact on our mental health and general well-being. For these reasons, I dedicate a large part of my practice to clients experiencing grief and loss.

Supportive

Support and compassion are the foundation of the therapeutic relationship. I treat all my clients with kindness, caring and compassion.

Strength-Based

When life hits us hard, we often forget what we are good at. Identifying our strengths and coping skills can be a vehicle to building new skills and strategies to navigate our challenges.
