If you’re here it’s likely because you find yourself struggling. Perhaps you’re in the midst of a transition - a new job, a new city, graduating college, the end of a relationship, or the loss of a loved one. You’re not sure how to navigate the situation and the feelings associated with it are intense. Maybe you’re like the estimated 21 million U.S. adults living with depression. You can’t find any motivation. You're staying in more instead of meeting up with friends. You’re crying for no apparent reason. Maybe you’re like the estimated 42.5 million U.S. adults who live with anxiety. You can’t find rest. You don't feel safe. Your thoughts race and you feel on edge all the time. I'm here to walk with you. In our work together we will navigate immediate challenges while also finding new insights and a deeper self-awareness that will help you develop a healthier relationship with yourself and others. I often draw from Cognitive Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and most prominently from a Psychodynamic approach to guide you through this process of change. Whether you're new to therapy or have had past experiences it is my hope that our work together will offer you new perceptions that can be used for change and help you feel more comfortable with you.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together we'll discuss the motivating factors that brought you to therapy, your history and background, and what you'd like to get our therapy. There will be time for you to ask questions and I'll do my best to give you an indication of what therapy might look like moving forward. The foundation for my work is simply the belief that all of us were built for relationships. As a result, the relationship between therapist and person-in-therapy is the vehicle for change. You will find that my work includes a Client-Centered approach to building therapeutic rapport and incorporates several different models for change. I often draw from Cognitive Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and most prominently from a Psychodynamic approach.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I take pride in being able to quickly establish therapeutic rapport, which really just involves providing a warm, inviting space where you feel comfortable talking about yourself with some assurance that you will be heard and that I will be an empathetic, objective, non-judgmental presence. Creating and establishing this rapport allows us to begin working on the challenges that brought you to therapy in an effective way and provides opportunities for growth that you may not have even considered before.

My treatment methods

Psychodynamic

My practice is an eclectic one that involves several different treatment modalities. My education and personal experience in therapy is firmly grounded in a psychodynamic perspective - one that involves a close examination of our unconscious processes. Bringing thoughts and feelings that might be running in the background into our conscious awareness empowers us to make different choices and relate to ourselves in a healthier manner.
