Hello! My name is Yvette Weeks, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). My therapeutic approach is centered on fostering meaningful connections, emotional well-being, and personal growth. I work with individuals, children/adolescents, and families, focusing on a wide range of issues, including relationship difficulties, anxiety, communication challenges, behavior issues, parenting challenges, and life transitions. I'm committed to helping others through their challenges to discover their strengths, learn new techniques, and create positive change. I believe that everyone deserves to live a fulfilling and emotionally healthy life- in whatever way that looks like to the individual person or family. As a therapist who has personally experienced trauma, depression, and anxiety, I deeply understand the challenges and feelings that accompany these struggles. It is not always easy to seek support from others (believe me, I took a very long time to reach out to someone), and knowing that I can play a part in helping others feel better and do better, drives me to continuously learn and provide the best possible care. It is an honor to be a therapist, and I am dedicated to making a difference in the lives of those I have the opportunity to work with.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session, I will take the time to get to know you, your background, and your reasons for seeking therapy. We will talk about your goals and explore any current concerns or challenges. This initial meeting is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and create a foundation for our therapeutic work together. We will discuss your aspirations and challenges, and I will guide you in setting realistic and achievable goals. Together, we will establish a roadmap to navigate the therapeutic journey, tracking progress and celebrating progress along the way. During our journey, I strive to create a warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental environment. I encourage open and honest communication, fostering a safe space where clients can explore their thoughts and emotions freely. Working with me feels supportive and collaborative, as we embark on a journey of self-exploration and positive change.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

My therapeutic approach is integrative and client-centered, drawing from various theoretical perspectives such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Family Systems Therapy. I believe in tailoring my approach to meet the unique needs and goals of each client and family, employing evidence-based techniques to promote healing and transformation.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My expertise is in trauma work, child behavior, and helping parents with the child-parent relationship. Being a parent is tough work and it's very common for one to wonder "Am I doing this right?" One thing I like for parents to remember is that being a kid is tough too! (Especially if they are struggling with their behavior and emotions or going through scary situations). Since there is no "one size fits all" strategy when it comes to parenting and kids, I find it important to help families discover their strengths and motivations for change. In my effort to best help children and families, I've obtained evidence-based certifications including PCIT (Parent-Child Interaction Therapy), TFCBT (Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Seeking Safety, and many others.
