I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with over 10 years of experience working in a variety of settings, including private practice, community mental health, and currently state government, overseeing state-funded adult crisis services in Georgia. My approach to therapy is client-centered, meaning that I focus on building a strong relationship with my clients and understanding their unique needs. I believe in collaboration, and I work with you to develop a treatment plan that is tailored to your individual goals. I utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities, but I most often rely on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and solutions-focused approaches. CBT is a type of therapy that helps people to identify and change negative thought patterns and behavior. Solutions-focused therapy is a short-term, goal-oriented approach that focuses on finding practical solutions to current issues. I believe that everyone has the potential to heal and grow, and I am passionate about helping people achieve their mental wealth goals. I am also committed to providing culturally competent and inclusive care that embraces diverse sexual orientations, gender identities, and racial and ethnic backgrounds.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Clients working with me can expect to leave each session feeling empowered, having engaged in a collaborative partnership that resembles a team effort in therapy. Together, we'll navigate challenges, with me offering guidance and support. I believe this approach not only fosters personal growth and self-awareness, but also equips clients with practical tools and strategies to confidently face life's obstacles, carrying with them a sense of strength and capability.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My biggest strength as a therapist lies in my commitment to empowering clients with the skills and tools they need to manage their symptoms independently. I believe in fostering mental wealth by teaching clients practical strategies for coping with challenges and cultivating resilience. By equipping clients with these valuable skills, I aim to empower them to navigate life's ups and downs with confidence and self-reliance, ultimately reducing their dependence on therapy over time.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I specialize in providing support to individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, interpersonal conflict, work-related stress, financial stress, attention deficit disorders, and sexual orientation/gender identity related challenges.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) into my practice has been instrumental in assisting clients to recognize and reframe unhelpful thought patterns contributing to their distress. Through collaborative exploration, psychoeducation, and tailored interventions, I empower clients to address challenges such as anxiety, depression, and life transitions. By emphasizing the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, CBT equips clients with practical strategies to cultivate resilience and achieve their goals. Witnessing the transformative impact of CBT on my clients' lives reaffirms its effectiveness in promoting emotional well-being and fostering positive change.

Psychoeducation

In my practice, I've found psychoeducation to be a powerful tool for empowering clients with knowledge and understanding about their mental health and well-being. By providing clear and accessible information about psychological concepts, coping strategies, and treatment options, I aim to demystify the therapeutic process and empower clients to actively participate in their own care. Through psychoeducation, I help clients develop a deeper awareness of their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, fostering self-efficacy and resilience. Whether it's explaining the neurobiology of anxiety or teaching mindfulness techniques for stress management, I strive to make complex concepts relatable and applicable to clients' everyday lives. Ultimately, psychoeducation serves as a cornerstone of my practice, equipping clients with the tools and knowledge they need to navigate challenges, promote self-care, and foster lasting change.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

In my practice, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) has been a transformative approach for helping individuals navigate their emotional experiences and strengthen their relationships. With EFT, I focus on creating a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore their underlying emotions and attachment needs. By facilitating open and honest communication, I help clients identify and reframe negative patterns of interaction, fostering greater intimacy and connection. Through EFT interventions, such as reflecting emotions and validating experiences, I assist clients in deepening their understanding of themselves and their partners, leading to profound healing and relational growth. EFT empowers clients to develop more secure attachment bonds, cultivate empathy and understanding, and create fulfilling and resilient relationships that endure over time.
