I'm Maz Karandish and I'm a psychologist (PsyD). My approach is flexible, client centered, and utilizes mindfulness-based interventions at every point of the journey towards healing. My therapeutic approach is tailored to each specific client. Tenets of CBT, DBT, & solution focused approaches are always incorporated. The depth oriented approaches, such as psychoanalysis, are also integrated to facilitate transformative therapeutic engagements

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session we will introduce ourselves and we will focus on the reasons why the client is seeking therapy. History, past experiences with therapy, and hopes of what the client hopes to gain from therapy will be discussed. The pacing of this process will depend on client comfort as my approach is client-centered.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have experience working with a wide range of clients. This has given me an eclectic set of skills that allows me to serve a diverse client population. My personal experiences with mindfulness-based experiences has helped me to cultivate deeper levels of attention and present-centered awareness. This skill helps me to skillfully tune into client needs and meet my clients where they are at.

My treatment methods

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I utilize minduflness-based therapy to help people develop greater capacity for insight. Awareness is one of the greatest allies in the journey towards healing.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a evidence-based practice that works particularly well in cases involving depression and anxiety. I've utilized this model quite significantly over the years and believe in its success.

Attachment-based

Attachment is a central mechanism through which we understand ourselves and the world around us. Attachment-based approaches are significantly helpful in uncovering deeper parts of the self.

Psychodynamic

Understanding the present requires us to understand parts of our past. Psychodynamic therapy relies on individual history to draw interpretations of how events throughout our life have led to certain patterns of behavior and expression.
