Hello, I am Kim Kanna, a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) currently offering therapy services in Colorado, Missouri and Minnesota. I work with individuals and couples to overcome many different challenges including such things as anxiety, depressed mood, chronic illness, communication difficulties, and overcoming traumatic experiences. I focus on a strength based approach and offer empathy, compassion, support and encouragement. I look forward to helping you on your healing journey!
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
Our first session will consist of a brief introduction, followed by a deeper understanding of what challenges you are struggling with, a thorough assessment of your life experiences along with identifying supports you currently have and what you would like to accomplish in therapy. This information will help us develop a personalized treatment plan to address your current needs and challenges and to set some goals to accomplish during therapy.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
I offer a toolbox of skills to teach my clients how to overcome and cope with anxiety, depression, boundary issues, communication issues, and other challenges and difficulties. My EMDR training is the gold standard for EMDR therapy, as it was developed by the founder, Francine Shapiro, PhD. I also bring a significant amount of life experience which allows me to offer diverse problem solving skills and differing perspectives to consider. I also encourage advocacy and offer support and resources. The first step is sometimes the hardest, but together we can walk the path towards healing and reaching your therapy goals!
