Welcome! My name is Kristen Wilson and I am a licensed clinical social worker in both Florida and Illinois. I received my Master's in Social Work from Aurora University in Illinois. I have been a school social worker since 2007, working in various schools in both Illinois and then Florida. I became licensed in Illinois in 2015 and Florida in 2019. Since 2019, I have been providing both in-person and tele- therapy to individuals and couples.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, I like to get to know who you are as a person. You will have the opportunity to discuss the issues you want to work on in a supportive and confidential space. The sessions will center around your goals and the topics you want to discuss. In sessions, we will also work on building your coping skills so that you can feel better equipped to deal with daily stressors of life.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My biggest strengths are creating a safe space for clients to feel heard and understood, listening without judgment, and my passion for aiding clients in feeling empowered through their journey. I provide a warm, open, and nonjudgmental space for clients to gain strength, hope, and strategies to become the best version of themselves. Are you ready to become the best version of yourself?

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment that allows clients to explore obstacles with concerns related to a multitude of issues. You are taking a great step in caring for yourself by signing up for therapy. Counseling can foster personal development in whatever way you may be seeking and help build the life you so deeply deserve.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have been utilizing CBT methods since 2007 when I began working as a school social worker. My love for CBT has continued in my private practice with clients dealing with negative thought patterns that affect them daily. We’ll use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. We’ll then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a less anxious and stressed life.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness-based therapies use meditation, relaxation and awareness exercises to help focus on the present moment, aiming over time to experience day to day situations and stressors in nonjudgmental and non-reactionary ways. I have found success with Mindfulness-Based therapy for my clients who struggle with ADHD and anxiety.

Integrative

The integrative approach combines ideas and techniques from different therapeutic schools of thought depending on the unique needs of a given client . The therapist and client will work together in a partnership to understand the sources of the client's anxiety, unhappiness, physical discomfort, or unhealthy behavior patterns.
