Hi I'm Christy. I've been doing this work for over 20 years. I believe people do well when they are able, but life often throws us unexpected challenges or tragedies. I'll provide a safe space for you to begin your journey to healing. With master's degrees in professional counseling and psychology, I have the training and experience to help you understand your experiences.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

When we meet for the first time, I will ask you questions designed to give me a general idea of who you are as a person. I'm interested in hearing about your experiences, interests, relationships, strengths, and supports. Everything we discuss will remain confidential and we will discuss your reasons for coming to therapy, and what you would like to accomplish in our time together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have a unique ability to put myself in my client's shoes for the brief time I get to spend with them. I see the best in them when they aren't able to. My strongest skill is listening in a way that helps my clients understand they are seen and heard.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

My focus is on learning who you are as a person. I will partner with you to help you become the best version of yourself.

Attachment-based

Attachment styles are formed in childhood, and we carry them into our adult relationships. When we understand how we operate in relationships, we can manifest the relationships we want.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

All of our thoughts, moods, and behaviors are attached to one another. By simply adjusting one of them, we can produce change in all of them.

EMDR

When we experience a traumatic event, parts of that event can get stuck deep in our psyche. It might manifest itself as images, smells, sounds, or even tactile sensations. When we use EMDR to reprocess trauma, the emotional charge is diminished from the memory of that event, allowing us to think and talk about the event without having the distressing response to it.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

There are four modules and correlating skills that will help you be more present in your day-to-day life. You will learn to regulate your emotions effectively, and to tolerate distress. DBT skills will even help you in your interpersonal interactions.
