Gina is a Licensed Professional Counselor with 9+ years of providing holistic and integrated care to children, families, and adults. She earned her master’s degree in Community and Trauma counseling from Philadelphia University, and believes true healing and change is achieved through establishing strong therapeutic relationships, adapting treatment to meet her client's individual needs, and building on their strengths. Gina recognizes that therapy should be a safe and meaningful experience in order to properly address life’s difficult, stressful, and scary moments. She is dedicated to providing the best quality care through evidence-based approaches and incorporating her own personal traits of compassion and understanding to meet the needs of her clients.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

The love I have for what I do rejuvenates me to show up and be an active facilitator with my clients everyday. Having worked as a therapist for 9 years with a variety of individuals and families with complex needs and challenges, I have been able to achieve success by listening carefully, being empathetic, and communicating clearly. I also believe in the philosophy of "walking the walk" - personally speaking, I can only be at my best if I am also taking care of myself and incorporating mental health strategies into my own life as well. Can't pour from an empty cup, right?

My treatment methods

Parent-Child Interaction (PCIT)

PCIT is a gold standard treatment model that helps the caregiver and child learn skills to address disruptive behavior problems and enhance the connection within the relationship. I have had the great pleasure of implementing PCIT since becoming formally trained in 2016. I am certified through PCIT International and am able to train other clinicians within an agency. While this treatment model requires a great deal of consistent effort from the family, it is incredibly effective and can be a LOT of fun!

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is an evidenced based treatment model that helps an individual connect with their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It can help address unhelpful thoughts and behavioral patterns that are perpetually interfering with life. Applying CBT strategies with my clients has been highly effective in addressing (but not limited to) anxiety, depression, and trauma-related disorders.

Humanistic

I am essentially a humanist in all areas of my life, as I believe in connecting and understanding the whole person. Every client has their own agency, values, beliefs, and goals in life, which creates a unique and fun approach to facilitating the treatment process. Using this methodology helps me collaborate and empower the client to achieve their goals.

Integrative

Integrative therapy involves techniques from multiple therapeutic orientations to treat a client’s unique needs. I notice the best results stem from blending different scientific treatment methods and client strengths/ideas. Therapy cannot be a "one size fits all" type of mentality - it is important for therapists to adapt accordingly.
