Kudos to you for recognizing the need to focus on your overall well-being including your mental health. At the beginning of therapy many individuals often feel overwhelmed with various emotions, especially talking to a stranger about their concerns. I seek to make my clients feel welcomed and heard by working with them to identify past and present life events and the impact they have on their interactions internally and externally. I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment that allows clients to explore obstacles with concerns related to anxiety, depression, and/or self-care. I focus on helping clients develop assertive communication & boundaries with themselves and those around them that can help improve their quality of life. Counseling sets the stage for self-awareness, healing, grieving, feeling empowered which can lead to change and growth. What you allow will continue, and change is a personal choice. If you’re ready to challenge yourself and create the life you want, I look forward to working with you.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In your first session, I will have a free-flowing conversation with you and spend some time getting to know you and the issues that brought you into treatment. I will ask questions about your presenting concerns, as well as your history and background. Most likely, you’ll find yourself talking about your current symptoms or struggles, as well as saying a bit about your relationships. Most importantly, in that first session, I hope to begin making a connection with you. You should feel safe, accepted, respected, and relatively comfortable. Not all therapists are right for every person, so use your first session to assess whether you feel like we are a good match.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have a love for helping others. Therapy is about building trust, I pride myself on making people feel comfortable and relaxed to share presenting problems. I listen very carefully to what you say, then reflect back to you what you’ve said so you can hear it for yourself. I also ask good questions that help you see new perspectives and draw your own conclusions. I will also hear what you don’t say, as well as to see patterns in the way you discuss things or avoid things. I pay attention to your body language and mannerisms. I will help you notice these things too, in ways that help you understand yourself better.
