*Ofrezco terapia individual en espaƱol* You may have a desire to heal from painful experiences but need guidance on how to start. You may feel overwhelmed trying to manage life's ups and downs. Or maybe you are going through a big change in your life and find yourself struggling to manage it. Perhaps you are seeking to understand yourself better to be able to live more meaningful and fulfilled life experiences. If you can relate to any of these, you don't have to go through these challenges alone and I'd be glad to help. I'm a bilingual, licensed therapist in the State of Florida. I was born and raised in Puerto Rico and moved to Miami, FL to pursue a career in mental health counseling. Throughout my career, I have found that I work and connect well with adult and young adult women that have been exposed to traumatic experiences and/or are currently struggling to manage life transitions, including, but not limited to relationship separations, loss of a loved one, loss of a job, and going to college. I'm also a Catholic-Christian therapist and can provide counseling from a Christian lens to those clients that wish to integrate their faith, values, and beliefs, in their therapeutic journey.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will discuss what brings you to therapy, what challenges you have been facing, and what goals you are hoping to accomplish. This will allow me to understand how I can best help you achieve those goals and create an individualized treatment plan. I will also take a few minutes during this session to address any questions or concerns you may have about the process or about my approach.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My experience working with trauma survivors has solidified my belief in human resilience and in our ability to grow and seek meaning, despite suffering and adversity. I am a firm believer in the power of therapeutic alliance, which is why I aim to practice authenticity, empathy, and kindness, in my sessions, while assuming a supportive and guiding stance. I intend to be fully present and actively listen to my clients so that they leave sessions feeling heard. I have found that when clients feel heard, they feel encouraged to be open and vulnerable during sessions--two traits that are conducive to healing and growth.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

My ideal clients are young adults or adult women that have been exposed to traumatic experiences and/or that are currently struggling to manage life transitions, including, but not limited to relationship separations, loss of a loved one, loss of a job, and going to college.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

This approach focuses on examining the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. CBT involves working together to help you understand your thoughts, identifying your thought patterns, challenging and reframing certain thoughts, modifying behaviors, and utilizing techniques (i.e., thought records, setting behavioral goals, or relaxation exercises). The goal is to understand and modify thinking patterns and behaviors to improve your overall wellbeing.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

This approach combines mindfulness and acceptance strategies with commitment and behavior change techniques. It focuses on building psychological flexibility, which is the ability to adapt and respond effectively to life's challenges while staying connected to what matters most to you.

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

This is a specific type of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) designed to treat individuals who have experienced trauma. The approach includes understanding trauma and how it affects your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors; learn to identify and challenge unhelpful or inaccurate thoughts related to the traumatic event; processing and making sense of your traumatic memories; learning coping skills to manage distressing emotions and symptoms related to trauma; address avoidance; and helping you find meaning and purpose in your life despite the trauma you have experienced.

Christian Counseling

As a Catholic-Christian therapist, I believe in the importance of addressing both spiritual and emotional aspects of a person's well-being. It can be particularly beneficial for those seeking therapy within the context of their Christian faith and values.
