Hello, I work with individual adult clients dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, stress. Life is not meant to live alone and in isolation. We need positive human beings to bear witness to our lives in order for us to become fully human. We need meaningful experiences to help us navigate this journey called life. If you are tired of being tired, anxious, sad, depressed, going through the motions and feel stuck in chaotic relationships and confusion that drains you; AND you are willing to do the work to get well, then you need skilled, compassionate support to get you unstuck and get your life back on track to experience purposeful living. It is here where our paths intersect. It is my intention that you to flourish, thrive and prosper and live life well. I often use CBT, DBT, EMDR, Mindfulness modalities in therapy.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session you can expect a comprehensive intake. This usually takes about an hour. Here I will be asking a variety of questions examining the areas of your past and present relationships to get a sense of the factors that contributes to how you respond to yourself and others in relationships and what you desire to achieve in counseling to help you thrive and flourish in your life.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As I have been in the work for over a decade, I 'm cleared-eye on shining a light on a path that can be a positive factor in your life. I challenge dysfunctional and maladaptive strictures in your mindsets and often give you therapeutic exercises, with the intention that you become emotionally aware of the undercurrent of sabotaging internal vows you subconsciously subscribe to in your life. The end goal is that you graduate from therapy with confidence and wellbeing.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is a foundational feature of my therapeutic work. I teach clients how their uncalibrated emotions and mood-state is/are affected and compounded by their dominant thought patterns and I guide them in becoming aware of their negative predominant thoughts and offer practical ways they may replace their dysfunctional and maladaptive thinking with more useful and adaptive thought patterns

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I offer client ways they can cope with overwhelming stressors or every-day stresses by teaching mindfulness techniques and visualization skills. DBT is also a function of my work with clients.

EMDR

Many client are stuck in a mood-state that is a function of past unresolved trauma. In cases when I assess that trauma work would benefit clients; I first teach how eye-movements often addresses the underlying stuck and stagnated traumas with the aim of mitigating its negative effects on their lives. I have been trained in both Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and Multi-channel Eye Movement Integration (MEMI) and witness how it provides therapeutic value for my clients.

Mind-body approach

I approach my work with each client with an understanding that they are an integrated whole being of body/soul/spirit. When a client submits to counseling, I understand that it is not just a discrete part of their being (namely, their mind or emotions) that needs support; so I respond accordingly to teach clients practical ways to become unstuck. I teach skills, strategies, techniques and offer ways they can re-integrate the fragmented areas of their lives into a functioning whole. I am a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) and a licensed naturopathic medical doctor (NMD) and as such, my world-view and therapeutic modalities incorporates mind and body work.

Integrative

Integration is a key to restoring fragmented parts of our being. As such my training as an LPC/LMHC & NMD overlays my approach to therapy.
