I've been a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), board certified art therapist (ATR-BC), and certified alcohol and drug counselor (CAADC) for the past 5 years. As a therapist it's my desire to build a positive relationship with individuals and then help you to use multiple tools to help individuals find peace, walk through difficult times/traumas, and build a future that feels good for you based on your wants and desires.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During your first session you can expect us to review mandated reporting/limitations to privacy/and what it looks like and means to have an active hand in your own therapy, what my role as a therapist may look like, what expectations from you as a consumer may look like, we'll create a plan for treatment, and we'll review any questions you may have. My style of therapy is that I'm a real person, and use humor as well as metaphors in my sessions. If you like someone who will engage in conversation as well as listen to you, I may be a good fit for you.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I feel my greatest strengths as a therapist are empathy, consistency, and attentiveness. I'm constantly looking to learn new techniques and help people with additional tools.

My treatment methods

EMDR

I use EMDR primarily for individuals who are struggling with trauma and anxiety. The treatment allows individuals to use this evidence-based treatment to reduce their symptoms while learning coping skills and reprocessing the trauma to reduce the impact on life now.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I use acceptance and commitment therapy in addictions, life transitions, and grief work. This treatment allows individuals to find peace that there are things we cannot change, while understanding that we will make changes in areas we have control over, such as our own actions and decision making.

Grief Therapy

Grief can take a lot of forms. It can be associated with the loss of a loved on, a pet, a job, or even something we anticipated but never had. I use grief therapy as a way to understand the experience and process through the loss.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing is a great way to discover what you want for your life and what is important to you. I will then help you investigate how to achieve those goals in a way that feels realistic and attainable.
