Hello! I provide psychotherapy for people who are grieving, coping with cancer (patient and/or loved ones), coping with fertility treatment, planning/adjusting to retirement, college students, living with a chronic illness, and depression and anxiety. I work with people who are grieving the loss of a loved one/pet, struggling with their hopes and dreams, and grief due to physical issues - such as cancer, fertility, job losses, life transitions, moving, and being a caregiver for a loved one. I also work with people who are struggling to connect with meaning and purpose in the presence of advanced staged cancer. I take a compassionate, analytical and direct approach to counseling while incorporating mindfulness and meaning-making into our sessions. I specialize in grief counseling, chronic illness and mental health, depression and anxiety. I offer both supportive counseling as well as goal-oriented / behavioral modification counseling. I provide free 15-minute consultations for individual counseling. I have evening and weekend availability and am accepting new clients. I am also seeking new clients for my 7-week virtual grief support group. Insurance can be billed if in the network. Kudos for reading all the way through and putting yourself first.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Many of my clients say that they appreciate my style of counseling because they walk away with a different way of seeing things; new insights about themselves; and a better understanding of who they are and their thinking. I enjoy getting to know a person, their environment, how they were raised and the foundations created, as well as how their current environment is impacting them. Many of my patients say that they feel more hopeful after a session with me. I work with people who are struggling with their emotions and I try and empower a person while collaborating on practical interventions for healing and understanding oneself. There may be times that I am direct and challenge a way of thinking; there may be times that all you need is permission to cry. I am here for it all.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

My treatment methods vary by person. I provide grief counseling, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based therapy for anxiety-reducing, stress reduction activities, psychoanalysis, illness adjustment counseling for health-related illnesses, meaning-centered psychotherapy for advance stage cancer, and supportive therapy for caregivers. I also provide behavioral activation for depression.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have been providing counseling to people with cancer for the last 10 years. I am skilled in helping adults and their families adjust to a life-changing diagnosis and the impact on one's life, such as school, career, family planning, physical changes, and end-of-life concerns, to name a few. I counsel people over in their later life who are struggling with depression or anxiety. They may be struggling with retirement, physical ailments, chronic illnesses, raising grandchildren, and feelings of isolation. My work in healthcare has introduced me to the world of perinatal mental health and reproductive mental health. I work with women who are experiencing fertility challenges, especially the grief that arises due to infertility caused by cancer or other unexplained reasons.
