My name is Rafel Lane, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with more than 12 years experience in mental health. I have worked with individuals, families, and support systems across the lifespan in various capacities throughout my social work career, but I find providing therapy to be one of most rewarding and enriching aspects of my career. Helping people feel better is my passion.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The client-therapist relationship is just that a relationship. Although, this is a professional relationship its important for both of us to feel comfortable and confident working together and for rapport to be built. In our first session together you we will start by identifying the thing(s) in which lead you to seek therapy. This involves me asking you a lot of questions about your life, specifically how you feel about different things or areas in your life.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a therapist I have worked with an array of people from all ages, backgrounds, ethnicities, and social situations. Having 12 years of experience with such diverse populations have given me insight into the human condition, how common so many of our emotional and social issues are, how to relate to others in a way that is person-centered and collaborative, and how to help others make impactful change in their lives.

My treatment methods

Adlerian

I utilize this method to address issues with self esteem, inferiority, imposter syndrome, and more. This method is future focused and goal oriented.

Existential

Used to aid in developing or recognizing a greater sense of self. In this we seek to increase confidence and self awareness, learn how to accept and process our actions and their outcomes, learn to normalize certain behaviors and ways of thinking, and ultimately work towards finding a balance between mind, body, and spirit.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Used to aid in increased awareness and mindfulness. Helps with the development and utilization of coping skills.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is a highly used evidence based practice where interventions are used to help people identify thoughts, that lead to emotions, that lead to behaviors, that lead to thoughts, ultimately learning to break the cycle as it’s affects such as anxiety and depression.

Gestalt

This emphasizes personal responsibility and focuses on the individual's experience in the present moment, the therapist–client relationship, the environmental and social contexts of a person's life, and the self-regulating adjustments people make as a result of their overall situation.
