i there, first off, I want to start by saying how fantastic it is that you are considering therapy. I know that first step to get help can take a massive effort! I strive to create a warm and welcoming environment where clients feel they are able to open up. Every individual is different, so tools used in therapy will based off your individual needs! Currently I am working with and group agency to provide in person and telehealth services. I have extensive history working with those suffering from addiction and co-occurring disorders. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). I love drawing from multiple backgrounds/trainings to be able to assist individual needs. Whether you are new to therapy, a therapy expert, or in between - I would love to meet with you. I believe the client-therapist rapport and connection is essential for any therapeutic relationship. That is why I strive to create a comforting and welcoming experience for all the clients I work with. Change is scary - therapy should not have to be.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
The first session will be a introduction session where we start to develop our therapeutic connection. We will go through a in depth discussion of the presenting problems/challenges, identify goals, and discuss treatment plan/process so you have an awareness of what we are doing. It's important that you be an active participant in the treatment planning process as this is your care. I like to see therapy as a journey where you are the captain, navigating the work we do, and I am the guide to help us be able to reach our destination.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
One of the greatest strengths I feel I have as a provider is the ability to help connect with individuals to create a safe space to do therapy. I have years of knowledge, training, and experience but I have found that if you don't have a strong, safe, and supportive connection within the client-therapist relationship then nothing else matters. I try to make therapy feel less scary/intimidating than many people expect it to be. While the work can still be uncomfortable and challenging, I firmly believe that the experience as a whole does not have to be.
