As humans, we have an innate ability to gain insight from our experiences, learn from that insight and incorporate it into our lives to make our lives better. My name is Kristin and I would love to help you through this journey of seeking insight. A bit about me... I am a compassionate and empathetic professional who loves making personal connections with my clients (often through humor) and creating a comfortable atmosphere where individuals can begin exploring and working through any issue. I specialize in working with adolescents and adults in the areas of depression, anxiety, life transitions, and spirituality. While I use multiple approaches, I am grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy. This means that I tends to focus on how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected, as well as identifying potential solutions to issues. My approach is always tailored to each client's individual needs and personality. Now that you know a bit about me, I would love to get to know you. If you are interested in working with me or have any questions that you'd like answered, feel free to contact me using info provided.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In your first session, expect to review informed consent. I will also inquire about your concerns and reason(s) for seeking therapy. We will talk about therapy goals and set a foundation for future sessions. While doing this, we will also begin getting to know one another.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strength as a provider is my ability to connect with clients, especially over the computer. I like to think that I prioritize creating a supportive, trusting, and safe environment, while using humor at times to increase comfortability. I specialize in working with people experiencing depression, anxiety, and life transitions. I also provide counseling from a Christian perspective, to those that desire this style of counseling.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are all connected. It is important to understand these connections when seeking to make postiive changes to one's mood. I often use this therapeutic technique, in various ways, when people are seeking to decrease depression, anxiety, and stress. I've also used it when people are looking to improve relationships.

Faith based therapy

Incorporating faith into therapy can be such a powerful tool to foster healing and to decrease negative feelings about self and others. It can also be helpful to explore the ways that we may have felt harmed or hurt by religion and how to move forward from that hurt.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I generally use ACT when working with people who experience anxiety.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

If you are looking to set tangible, measurable goals and work between sessions toward those goals, we will most likely be incoporating solution-focused thearpy at some point during therapy.
