My name is Marisol Cruz, and I am bilingual in English and Spanish. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I have 24 years of experience working as a school counselor with school-age children from kindergarten through 12th grade. I have worked with students with various diagnoses. My main objective in working with students is to help them by supporting and guiding them so they can carry on a daily routine in school and any environment. A partnership is developed, whereby children and adolescents are actively involved in helping to create personal growth and development in their lives. I work with families helping them to create an environment that will establish routines at home so that the changes can be implemented and the children and adolescents feel a sense of support and accountability. Also, I provide services for adults with depression, anxiety, relational support, and much more. As a counselor, I also offer wraparound services to help families with the resources they need to live productive lives.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges the client is facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

The areas that I specialize in are Stress, Anxiety, Depression, Parenting issues, Anger management, Self-esteem, ADHD, and Behaviors. I am licensed as a substance abuse counselor. I have worked for many years as a school counselor with Family conflicts, Trauma, and abuse. Also, I have worked with Relationship issues, Intimacy-related issues, Career difficulties, Coaching, Depression, and Coping with life changes.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

While working with the client, we explore together what is at the root of their situation. We then work on realistic expectations of what can help the client. Implementation of a plan is practiced and revisited to identify what is working and what needs to be revisited.
