I’m passionate about many things surrounding the health and well-being of all genders. Along with mental health, I am passionate about maternal health, family and relationship dynamics, and hold a strong focus surrounding the multicultural context and how that has shaped who you are and how you respond to the stress and conflict in life. I have decades of experience in mental health and utilize a trauma-informed approach to help you along your journey. As a bi-cultural therapist whose journey to have children was as unique as my child is, I see the therapeutic process through a unique lens which helps me understand your journey and create a treatment plan specifically tailored to who you are and what you have experienced. My individualized approach is driven by a desire to help each client on their journey. My certifications have shaped the way I do therapy to help each client create a corrective emotional and relational experience. Through my trauma-focused lens I can help you heal and help you navigate the myriad of life transitions that can happen to an adult; be it graduating college, preparing for first-time motherhood, dealing with past traumas or childhood wounds, starting a new job, buying a new home, losing or gaining relationships, exploring your gender, sexuality or culture just to name a few. Together, we will work on strategies that allow you to discover the root causes of your struggles and find healthier solutions and meaningful connections. If we sound like a good fit let's connect!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Starting therapy can be a significant step toward improving your mental health and well-being. It's normal to feel a mix of emotions, including nervousness and anticipation, before your first session. Here's what you can generally expect during your first therapy session: Getting to know you: The first session is often focused on building a rapport and getting to know each other. I may ask you about your background, family, relationships, work, and any significant life events. And I will ll likely ask about the specific reasons you sought therapy. Setting goals: You and I will discuss what you hope to achieve through therapy. This might involve identifying specific issues or challenges you want to address, and setting realistic and achievable goals and objectives. Therapeutic approach: I may explain my theoretical approaches to therapy if you want to know more. There are various therapeutic modalities (e.g., cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy) and I may use a combination of techniques based on your needs. Ask questions: Don't be afraid to ask me questions as well. This could be about my qualifications, their experience, or any concerns you have about the therapy process. Establishing trust: Building trust and feeling comfortable with me is crucial. It may take time, so be patient with yourself and the process. Ask questions to clear up your concerns as they arise, share if you feel that I have offended or hurt you somehow. These can often be cleared up with a open and honest conversation. Openness and honesty: It's important to be open and honest with me.. Remember, I am here to help and support you, and am trained to handle a wide range of emotions and issues. Feedback and assessment: I may ask for feedback during or after the session to ensure they understand your concerns and needs. Homework or assignments (if applicable): Depending on the therapeutic approach, I may suggest exercises or tasks for you to do outside of sessions. Remember, the first session is just the beginning of your therapeutic journey. It's normal to feel a range of emotions, and it's okay to take your time to find the right therapist and approach that works best for you. If you feel uncomfortable or unsafe at any point, don't hesitate to communicate that with me. I am here to support you.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My strengths and key skills are making people feel comfortable, and safe to talk. Without that, therapy cannot take place safely. So working to make you feel as though I understand you and am compassionate are my key areas of focus and strength. After this, I believe that my area of strength is: trauma treatment. As a certified trauma provider, I have both the clinical training and real-life experience to help those who have been affected by trauma. I have extensive experience in working with sexual assault survivors, vets and other areas that may cause trauma symptoms. Additionally, I have additional training working with mother-to-be and postpartum mothers who have postpartum anxiety/depression, plus pregnancy birth or loss resulting in trauma or other symptoms associated with these areas. My personal and professional experiences have allowed me to provide unique support and skills to improve symptoms, behaviors and self perceptions.
