Hello, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC/LMHCA) based in the states of Illinois and Indiana. I received my Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grace College and Theological Seminary in Winona Lake, Indiana. I have experience and practice for approximately 7 years. I enjoy helping others discover they can learn to live on the other side of their hurt and pain. I respect clients' autonomy and have a compassionate ear as I work to help you become successful in your future endeavors and management of your own life.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we will start with brief introductions, then dive into specific challenges you are facing to obtain some background information. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions. Mostly, you will have an opportunity to share your thoughts about therapy, past experiences with therapy, and your future goals for therapy. I will also discuss my theoretic approach to help determine if we are a good fit, and we will continue with goal setting for our time together in future sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked with a variety of individuals, I have developed a passion for those who have difficulty dealing with loss, hurt, and pain. I am compassionate about instilling hope for those who feel hopeless, and helping others find success by learning to live lives where their stress can be managed in healthy, helpful ways. I have been successful in helping clients learn to forgive those who have hurt them and caused much sadness by understanding what life may have been for them and they may have operated at their fullest capacity at the time.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a counseling method and approach that clients usually respond well with. This approach assists clients with making connections of how their thinking impacts their mood/emotions, and their behavior. Once faulty thinking is identified, the therapist is able to help the client challenge negative or irrational thoughts, improve their feelings, and ultimately their behavior will follow. I am experienced in other approaches and use them as I determine what may be a best fit for the client.

Christian Counseling

It has been my experience since counseling, that some clients may request therapy that is inspired by faith-based solutions. I tend to integrate faith-based interventions into the session, if requested. This method is helpful in clients remaining grounded in "something" or "someone" other than their own ability, which helps them to be even more successful in therapy.

Narrative

Narrative therapy helps clients to re-write their own script (of life). Oftentimes, situations and events may have occurred in their family of origin, and they feel they are stuck in the past, especially in instances of trauma. My use of this theoretical approach has assisted clients in taking charge of their own lives versus messages told to them and make decisions/choices best fitted for their problemed situation. It is your life, your narrative and I can help you focus on just that.
