Hi there, my name is Susie, and I am a licensed clinical social worker in FL. I have over 15 years of professional work experience in both clinical case management and counseling services. My experiences include working with a wide array of groups and individuals ranging from addiction, eating disorders, various types of physical and emotional trauma, brain and spinal cord injuries, sexual trauma, depression, and anxiety. I am also an E-RYT 500 yoga teacher certified in trauma informed yoga, meditation, and mindfulness practices with experience teaching inside of treatment facilities, jails, transition centers, senior centers, and shelters. A cornerstone of my practice involves helping individuals understand and deepen their mindbody connection through a variety of tools and techniques. Learning how things like trauma, chronic stress and anxiety, as well as depression can impact your physiology is an important part of the healing process. Gaining awareness and practice around tools you can use to combat some of these changes can help to improve your ability to regulate your mood and emotional state, ultimately allowing for a greater sense of stability and ease within.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
Our first session together is an opportunity for us both to get to know one another and to determine if we are a good fit. I like to start first sessions by giving you the floor; I'll ask you to share more about what brings you to therapy and what some of your goals are. I'll also ask you to share some historical information, just to help me better understand who you are and what some of your life experiences have been. Together we'll come up with a treatment plan, and you will also be welcome to ask me any questions you may have about my background or about the therapeutic process in general.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
I believe therapy should be a collaborative process, and I will provide a safe, non-judgmental space to help you do this work. Building a therapeutic rapport is something I believe I can do well with anyone who is committed to their own healing and recovery and motivated to change, assuming you are also comfortable meeting virtually. I enjoy working with individuals impacted by trauma, as well as anyone who is actively wanting and working to better understand themselves, heal from their past, manage chronic stress and/ or anxiety, and ultimately find meaning and joy in the everyday. The therapeutic process can look different for everyone, so we will start wherever you are ready. I look forward to meeting you!
