Hello I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) licensed in both Indiana and Arizona. I am also certified as a life coach which tends to focus more on personal development and business and personal goals, more so than just mental health. I have extensive training in play therapy and expressive techniques with children of all ages. At this time I prefer to work with adults as specified above, but can utilize all of these experiences as they apply. I especially enjoy working in areas of cultural diversity and assisting those who feel marginalized/oppressed by society while finding their place in the world.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session is intended to be an introductory session where we can get to know each other and share your concerns that brought us together. Sharing with me any changes that you would like to see occur and helping me to understand your current support systems or obstacles will then help us work together to define manageable goals that can help you move forward

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having been in this field for so many years has given me extensive experience in almost every main area of the mental health field. This means that I have had much experience with diverse populations and cultures. I am also naturally drawn to wanting people to feel authentically seen and accepted for who they are and where they are on their path. I build quick rapport with almost anyone who gives me a chance, and I find accepting diversity combined with supportive compassion and empathy to be easy. I find great joy in seeing other people be happy and stay committed to helping them get there, as long as clients are doing their part as well.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT focuses primarily on helping you to reframe negative thought patterns in limiting beliefs into more positive and compassionate perspective. The metaphor that I use most frequently is that it is about trying to retrain your thoughts to speak to yourself as you would your best friend, rather than your own worst critic. This approach goes along way toward rebuilding self esteem and confidence

Eclectic

I work hard to be as holistic as possible, which means approaching treatment with the understanding that life affects us on a physical, mental, emotional, as well as spiritual level, and all of these aspects are connected. I combine the cognitive behavioral approaches above with helping you gain inside into effective self-care, including healthy boundaries and strong social support system as much as possible. Also integrate mindfulness, breathing techniques, and, other forms of relaxation and self expression. Which approaches depends significantly on each personā€˜s preference and comfort levels.

Faith based therapy

For those who are seeking a faith based approach, I am very comfortable incorporating this into our discussion. While the primary path that I identify with is Christian, I value diverse beliefs and am comfortable speaking about many others such as Judiasm, Buddism, Islam and Hinduism. I however only incorporate these aspects if addressed by the client

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness approaches such as relaxation and breathing techniques are especially helpful to managing stress, anxiety and panic. Learning how to slow down, set manageable and realistic goals is part of that process. Identifying what matters most and consciously moving toward what brings balance and joy into our present moment instead of ruminating over past mistakes or future worries
