I am a Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor, Narcissist Abuse Recovery Clinician, and a Certified Trauma-informed Clinician who takes an authentic approach with his clients. I am a yoga instructor who likes to incorporate breathing and meditation into my sessions. I use ACT, DBT, CPT, Exposure Therapy, and Mindfulness to help build tools and lower reactions to trauma and negative emotions.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
The first session I want to gather information about your problem and your past history. Based on this I want to help you figure out what the root of the problem is. Once we have this figured out I want to work on developing a plan. Usually on the first session we will have homework. I feel like it is important for you to be working in between sessions, that's where the real therapy happens. The tools you gain in session need to work outside of the session. I want to help you feel easily prepared to take on life's challenges. It is my intention that you feel confident in yourself.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
I do my best to put myself in my clients shoes. I want to know what my client is feeling and what they are going through. I try to empathize with my client as much as possible. Of course, it is impossible to know exactly what you are experiencing, but I try as much as possible. In doing so, I want you to feel understood, heard, safe, and comfortable. I am authentic and honest. I will tell you what I think, I won't hold back. I will be there to help you through the rough times. If something is not working for you, I want you to feel comfortable enough to tell me. We can try something new. I want a relationship to where we can smile and joke, but you can tell me when you don't like something I'm doing or an approach that isn't working.
