Hi! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and an Internationally and state-certified Substance Abuse Counselor. I have also been trained in trauma and Christian Counseling. I am a doctoral student in social work, and I completed a Master's degree in social work and a bachelor's degree in sociology. I also completed a ministry-based doctorate in Biblical Counseling. I am an author and poet, and I have been trained in experiential approaches to therapy.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Before we meet, I will give you a brief set of questions to answer. In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions and then dive into the specific challenges you are facing. This will help me understand your needs and goals and help us create a tailored plan to work on during our sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

For over 25 years, I have worked with people whom family or society gave up on. Most had lost hope that their life could be different. Most were survivors of abuse. My favorite thing is highlighting the strengths, inner power, and wisdom within the people I serve. I believe in my clients until they believe. Therapeutic modalities with hope is the most incredible resource. My clients have taught me so much and I am inspired by their success.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I love working with people seeking recovery from substance abuse. You may be on probation, or substance abuse has led you to lose your freedom or your job, and you may have family members who don't understand you. You desire to have stability in your life and relationships that thrive. My unique blend of experience providing care and non-judgment makes me ideally suited to help. I am best prepared to serve BIPOC women who show up for everyone else except for yourself. You present as a strong woman extending grace for your children, family, and community, but not for yourself. It is time that you take yourself off mute, and seek the support you need. You are worth it, and I am equipped and honored to walk with you toward wholeness and peace.

My treatment methods

Strength-Based

I have used a strengths approach through my career and in all aspects of my work with clients. It is essential to highlight the capacities, abilities, and strengths inherent within people that can be overlooked when experiencing challenges.

Christian Counseling

I have many years of experience blending a faith-based/Christian/Biblical view, working with clients who request or seek therapy that includes their faith and belief system. I want to support clients with tools and perspectives that are important to them, and incorporating faith or a Christian view can powerfully create a foundation for change, growth and healing.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is a best practice for addressing many reasons clients seek help. Calling to awareness thinking and its impact on actions has powerful implications for progress in therapy.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

A person-centered approach is critical for working with clients. When seeking therapy, we must highlight the wisdom, knowledge, and power to change inherent within the client themselves as the expert of their own life. I will walk alongside you as you heal, learn, grow and recover.

Motivational Interviewing

I have many years using MI to support clients decisions to move forward and achieve their goals in treatment. Proven to be very effective, Motivational Interviewing places the control and decision-making power of change on the person seeking therapy with the support of the therapist on the growth journey.
