Hi! I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist based in North Carolina. I received my Master of Arts degree in professional counseling from Webster University. I have been practicing for 15 years. I work with adolescents and adults who struggle with anxiety and depression to decrease symptomology and to improve quality of life. I am experienced in working with adolescents and adults who have issues with substance abuse to recover from the abuse of substances and to maintain a drug/alcohol free lifestyle.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions. You and I will review your intake form and brief assessments you completed before you came to your first session. Then, I will work with you to complete an assessment that will assist to determine your current level of functioning and specific challenges you're facing. This assessment will help you and I to develop goals and objectives for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked with adolescents and adults for the past 25+ years, I've developed a large toolbox of strategies, techniques, and strategies for helping you (a) identify the root cause of your issues and (b) create an individualized treatment plan that leads to measurable progress. I am confident that together we can work to decrease the symptoms that are interfering with your quality of life and improve your life situation.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the main form of psychotherapy I use. Individuals and I work in a structured way to address specific issues that are identified during the assessment process. Treatment goals and objectives are developed to assist with guiding the therapeutic process. Goals and objectives are regularly reviewed to determine progress in treatment. CBT assists individuals to become aware of inaccurate or negative thinking so they can view challenging situations more clearly and respond to them in a more effective way. CBT can be a very helpful tool — either alone or in combination with other therapies — in treating mental health disorders, such as depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or an eating disorder. But not everyone who benefits from CBT has a mental health condition. CBT can be an effective tool to help anyone learn how to better manage stressful life situations.
