This moment in your life is a chapter in your story. There will be times when life feels "heavy," uncertain, and unwavering. Moments where you feel disconnected and feel as though the fog won't lift. There will be also times for celebration, smiles, laughter, and joy. I hope to walk alongside my clients to help them make sense of their personal histories, become more mindful of their emotions and reactions, and gain knowledge of themselves. Helping them find restored hope. Walking them through the Book of Life, through its joys and struggles. Hi, I'm Shannon. I am the owner of Mindful Emotions Counseling, LLC. My passion for mental health and helping others stems from years of meeting individuals from many backgrounds. I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in individual therapy. I am passionate about helping clients with Generalized Anxiety, Social Anxiety, Depression, Social Cultural Issues, Trauma, Grief, Life stressors, Adjustment disorders, Self Esteem, LGBTQIA friendly and Neurodiverse population.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Your first few sessions will involve us getting to know each other better, us working together to identify and process through current and past challenges. This hour is your time to simply focus on and address topics that are important to you.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am a person who believes that in life, everyone will go through situations that will test them. Believing in yourself and your abilities will pave the way to overcoming those obstacles. As a Therapist, I strive to make sessions comfortable, and safe and provide my clients with an atmosphere where they can truly be themselves. With over 15 years of experience in the mental health field, I have witnessed the power that therapy can provide in an individual's life. As Dr. Maya Angelou so eloquently stated, "We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty." **Disclaimer: I am unable to provide paperwork for comfort and/or service animals. I am unable to provide paperwork for FMLA, disability determination, leaves of absence, and/or testimony for court cases. For Telehealth sessions: You Must be located in the state of Indiana to receive services. My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT may be beneficial in sessions to help individuals understand the connection between thoughts, feelings, and reactions. If this is a treatment method that works for you, we can explore ways to help you recognize unhealthy patterns, reduce distorted thinking, and identify ways to manage overwhelming emotions.

Trauma Informed Care

As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, I have dedicated my time to continuously learning about the various ways that trauma can present itself in our lives. Using a trauma informed lens, helps me to meet clients where they are.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I often use various aspects of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy in my sessions. DBT explores ways to be mindful of our internal and external triggers, it explores emotion regulation, ways to manage stressful or intense situations, and provides guidance on interpersonal effectiveness with others. DBT is evidenced based and has been shown to assist clients with being able to cope more effectively.
