Hello! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the great state of Texas. I am happy you are reaching out for help into this journey of bringing out the best in yourself and I am here for you! I will provide therapy services to all clients in all locations within the state of Texas. If you feel stuck because of life's experiences causing anxiety, stress, or trauma, I can help. I have always had a heart for helping people and did so throughout my career in the military and then later when I started my counseling journey in 2010 and then received my master’s from Liberty University. Counseling is a ministry that I have a passion for helping people of all ages navigate and overcome a variety of life's challenges. Good mental health positively affects our physical health. It is important for all to have the opportunity to receive mental health services. If a client qualifies, I accept sliding scale. I have been attentive to the needs of both at risk residential and outpatient children, adults, and families, while ensuring a welcoming, trusting, no-judgement environment. I also work to effect positive change using methods or tools empowering Individuals (both adults and youth) and families experiencing unexpected life's trials.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first therapy session we will start out with introductions and getting to know each other. Establishing the client's needs and expectations is important. The first session is the beginning of forming a trusting relationship together and a safe place for the client to process. The client will be able to talk about their interests, strengths, concerns, and goals as well as current struggles or symptoms. We can take our time during the session.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having a tremendous passion for helping and finding the underlying cause of what is really going on and processing effectively has been a strength for me. Having compassion, understanding, and an elevated level of patience helps to get these effective results for the client. Identifying and empathizing with the client intuitively has been a strength for me in the therapy room. I have an appreciation of the clients' true selves. Focus and being in the moment mindfulness is important in providing therapeutic services to my clients. Being present and attentive and not imposing my own opinions and values is important. There is no room for judgement in the counseling space. The client will feel valued, respected, and listened to.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a modal treatment I have used that is helpful to the patient in changing unhealthy or unhelpful thinking patterns. It has helped in improving emotional regulation and creating positive coping strategies. Developing these coping skills empowers the patient to learn to change their own thinking, behavior, and problematic issues.

Trauma-Focused CBT

Trauma-Focused CBT has been useful in treating children and adolescents. It is an evidence-based approach for children and adolescents that have witnessed or experienced a traumatic event. It has been helpful in improving PTSD symptoms, depression, anxiety, behavior problems, sexualized behaviors, trauma-related shame, interpersonal trust, and social competence.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I have used this for patients along with CBT to incorporate breathing exercises, meditation, and yoga to gain better control or change thoughts and emotions in pursuing improvement in responses to the stresses associated with these negative thinking patterns or feelings.

Grief Therapy

Helping patients to process loss and options to help them cope with not only loss of a loved one or pet, but also in a moving-related loss, job loss or transition, changes in relationships such as divorce or breakups. Grief therapy is a helpful tool if grief causes a patient to feel like the loss is too much to manage or it is affecting their ability to function. I have worked with youth, adults, and families individually and in support groups providing grief and loss support.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

In my experience with this treatment, I have used it with other modalities and treatments and with all populations (youth and adults) with a variety of issues such as behavioral problems, dysfunction, domestic or child abuse, relationship problems, and addictions. Helping the patient in focusing on what they can do versus what they cannot do. Setting goals and working towards effecting positive change.
