Hello, and WELCOME to my private practice! I am truly excited that you decided to give counseling a try and let me help you alleviate your emotional pain, and become the very best version of yourself! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Professional Mental Health Counselor, and a Life Coach. I have been facilitating inpatient and outpatient mental health therapy for over 25 years and have over 30 years of experience working alongside people to help them make positive changes in their lives and communities. My style of therapy is informal, compassionate, and responsive to each person’s unique needs. My goal is to guide you to explore your concerns and build a greater understanding of the different aspects of your experience, from the emotional, mental, and physical to the family, social, cultural, and spiritual dimensions. Using different evidence-based techniques, I will help you reconnect to existing strengths and cultivate additional resources that support progress toward the changes you wish to make. During our first session, you will find yourself talking about your current symptoms and struggles, speaking about your relationships, interests, strengths, and goals. Most importantly, in that first session, you will begin making a connection with me as your therapist. As a bilingual, multicultural psychotherapist, my cultural diversity constitutes an essential tool to practice mental health therapy competently, as well as, a nonjudgmental, compassionate approach when treating clients needing emotional regulation and holistic wellbeing. When I'm not working, I enjoy traveling the world, exploring nature, practicing my faith, spending time with my family, and volunteering in the community. I am looking forward to working with you very soon! **Soy una terapista de salud mental multicultural y YO HABLO ESPANOL!!**

My treatment methods

EMDR

During EMDR therapy, clinical observations suggest that an accelerated learning process is stimulated by EMDR standardized procedures, which incorporate the use of eye movements and other forms of rhythmic left-right (bilateral) stimulation (e.g., tones or taps). I have successfully incorporated this modality when working with clients experiencing severe trauma, resulting in PTSD, social anxiety, and lapses in memory, among other disabling comorbidities.

Trauma-Focused CBT

Trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) addresses the mental health needs of children, adolescents, and families suffering from the destructive effects of early trauma. The treatment is particularly sensitive to the unique problems of youth with post-traumatic stress and mood disorders resulting from sexual abuse, as well as from physical abuse, violence, or grief.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy is used to treat mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and addictions. But it can also be used to treat physical conditions such as chronic pain, tinnitus and rheumatism. Here it can help people to cope better with the symptoms. The exact treatment approaches used will depend on the illness or problem to be treated. But the basic idea behind the therapy is always the same: What we think, how we behave, and how other people make us feel are all closely related – and they all affect our wellbeing. Cognitive therapy helps people learn to replace these thought patterns with more realistic and less harmful thoughts. It also helps people think more clearly and control their own thoughts better.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

(DBT) is an evidence-based psychotherapy that began with efforts to treat personality disorders and interpersonal conflicts. Evidence suggests that DBT can be useful in treating mood disorders and suicidal ideation as well as for changing behavioral patterns such as self-harm and substance use. DBT evolved into a process in which the therapist and client work with acceptance and change-oriented strategies and ultimately balance and synthesize them. DBT is sometimes considered a part of the "third wave" of cognitive-behavioral therapy, as DBT adapts CBT to assist patients in dealing with stress. DBT focuses on treating disorders that are characterized by impulsivity and emotional dysregulation.

Faith based therapy

Faith-based approaches see religion as a resource to draw on, especially in times of difficulty. They endorse prayer and reliance on a higher power to provide guidance. Clients are typically encouraged to examine themselves and their life through faith-derived principles and values.
