Hi! I'm a Licensed Professional Counsellor (LPC) based in Virginia. I obtained a Master's Degree from Virginia State University and have been practicing for the past 19 years. I believe that everyone has the capacity for growth and change, and I am here to provide a safe and supportive space for my client to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I am committed to helping my clients build resilience, develop healthy coping skills, and create meaningful and fulfilling lives. My ultimate goal is to empower my clients to become their best selves and live authentically.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, you can expect the creation of a safe and welcoming environment where you can share your concerns, challenges, and goals. We will start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a mental health therapist, my greatest strengths lie in my ability to create a swarm, nonjudgmental, and compassionate therapeutic environment where clients feel safe and supported. I present with strong communication skills and the ability to empathize with clients to foster effective therapy. I have strong foundation in evidence-based therapeutic approaches, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, reality therapy, and mindfulness based techniques. Most of all the 19 years of experience that I possess has provided me a wealth of knowledge in the mental health field.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT in my practice to serve as a base for structured approach to therapy that can help individuals develop more adaptive ways of thinking and behaving. I will work with the client to develop coping strategies, problem-solving skills, and behavioral techniques to help them achieve specific goals. I use CBT to help clients overcome their mental health challenges and improve their overall well-being.

Motivational Interviewing

I use motivational interviewing to aid clients in increasing their readiness for change, overcoming ambivalence and taking meaningful steps towards improving their lives. I assist the client with setting specific goals to include but not limited to identifying barriers to change, exploring coping strategies, and setting a realistic timeline for the goal. As the therapist will support the client's level of confidence in their ability to change by honing in on past successes, providing positive feedback, and reframing setbacks as opportunities for growth.

Reality Therapy

My use of reality therapy assists clients with taking control of their lives and making positive changes. I aid them in exploring their needs, setting attainable goals, and develop effective strategies for meeting their needs and creating a more fulfilling life. I implement ongoing evaluation and adjustment to ensure that the client is making progress towards their goal. I also encourage self-evaluation as an effort for the client to take responsibility for their actions and choices.
