Hi! I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) based in Indiana. I received my Masters from Indiana University - Purdue University and have been practicing for 4 years. I have a passion in assisting teens and young adults through difficult times in their lives as well as working through self-harming behaviors to build on more positive coping skills. I also assist individuals in addressing and working through trauma, depression, and anxiety.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Rapport, to me, is everything. Therapy is like any relationship you build, there has to be a level of trust so that you feel comfortable talking with me. In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I can build rapport quickly with clients and build off a person-centered belief. I feel that, at times, people just don't feel heard, especially teens and young adults, when it comes to family and friends. I feel that I am able to not only listen, but hear what is being said and can assist people in finding ways to explore avenues that they can take to communicate with others more affectively.

My treatment methods

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I have been using DBT for the past four years and have training in utilizing it with regards to Borderline Personality Disorder, as well as, assisting clients who self-harm. We can utilize DBT to assist in building on mindfulness of thoughts and how we react to certain things. DBT also offers assistance in developing interpersonal skills and addressing emotion regulation which aides in working through tough, overwhelming feelings that can come up.

EMDR

I have been utilizing EMDR in my practice for the past two years. It has assisted several clients in working through challenging negative core beliefs that they have about themselves regarding different aspects in their life, be it past, present, or future. With EMDR we learn about bilateral stimulation and how this type of stimulation triggers our brains to process things, similar to the REM that we do when we sleep. We then take this information and allow our brain to heal us by processing and learning to accept a stronger more positive core belief.

Motivational Interviewing

In my work, I have utilized motivational interviewing frequently. This type of work can assist people in building motivation to make change in their lives for the better. As we work together, we will be able to set realistic goals and take small steps to build on the motivation to make change in a direction that feels more positive for you.
