Hi! My name is Hilary. Thank you for taking the time to learn about me and my practice, Silver Linings Counseling Services. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I received my Bachelor’s degree in 2006 from Florida Atlantic University and a Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) in 2008. I completed my field experience and received continuing education from community mental health agencies. I have 20 years of experience in working with children and families, young adults, and adults. There is an African proverb that reads, “It takes a village to raise a child.” I am passionate about working with caregivers of the “village” and their children, adolescents, teens, and young adults, including families planning on having children, families struggling with infertility issues, and families who have experienced grief and loss. I enjoy working with individuals to process, cope and heal from trauma. During our time together we will also find resources, social supports, potential organic factors, and develop healthy coping skills and grounding techniques. If this approach sounds like a good fit for you, please schedule a free 15 minute consult or an initial intake session with me. I look forward to meeting you! :-) Hilary Jacques, LCSW

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first appointment, we will have a conversation about how I can help you, and what your goals and expectations are. We meet as often as we agree to for therapy to talk and play about life experiences, have fun, connect, learn, develop a toolkit of coping skills and calming techniques, and to explore and try out new things.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My biggest strengths are listening without judgement, treating people with unconditional positive regard, relationship building and maintenance, and providing support to individuals on their life journey. I have worked with individuals who have had therapy previously without success.

My treatment methods

EMDR

EMDR assists with the mind-body connection. EMDR helps one to connect to and resolve traumatic memories and alleviate triggers. First safety and security is established, we build rapport, ensure you have the proper social supports and community resources. Safety and security is the foundation of our work together, coping skills and grounding techniques are learned within the first few sessions. When ready, you will create a “ safe space” for yourself to be able to process traumatic/stressful memories in the order of least bothersome to most bothersome. We go at your pace with a trauma-informed lens, we use a person-centered approach.

Child Parent Psychotherapy

Child Parent Psychotherapy is a treatment appropriate for parents and children who have experienced shared traumas and are looking for help in processing and healing together. The therapist holds space for the parent, the child and for the parent-child relationship.

Trauma-Focused CBT

TF-CBT is an evidence-based approach designed to help individuals overcome the emotional and psychological effects of traumatic experiences. This powerful method helps you understand and reshape harmful thought patterns, leading to improved coping mechanisms and overall well-being.

Play Therapy

Through play, children are able to communicate and express their feelings in a safe and constructive way. Play therapy allows children to work out their problems and conflicts, as well as increase feelings of self-worth and self-acceptance.
