Hi, my name is Dr. Dionne Mahaffey, and I am licensed in both Alabama and Georgia. I am a collaborative, solution-focused Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), I/O Psychologist (PsyD), and purpose coach. I completed my doctoral training in psychology at the University of Arizona and my master's-level clinical work at the University of the Cumberlands. I started my career as a software developer and eventually ascended to the C-suite. I've also been a global consultant and a tech startup founder. My interdisciplinary skills and eclectic life and career experiences uniquely position me to assist clients facing a wide range of emotional and well-being challenges.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions. Overall, my philosophy is to treat each person as a unique individual, worthy of unconditional acceptance, regardless of his or her personal circumstances or struggles. It is my desire to come alongside, challenge, and encourage my clients to find healing emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I provide support, guidance and practical feedback to help clients effectively address life's challenges. It is my mission to provide the highest quality clinical services to promote the emotional and relational potential of all clients. I am committed to the core values of respect, responsiveness, innovation and quality to enhance the unique experience of each individual that I encounter.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

My primary method of therapy is Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I guide my clients to understand how their thoughts impact their feelings and behaviors. By examining these connections, we work together to develop coping strategies and problem-solving skills that help them achieve their emotional wellness goals. CBT is practical and action-oriented, making it an effective tool to bring about positive change in a structured, supportive way.

Positive Psychology

I also use Positive Psychology in my practice, which focuses on enhancing well-being and harnessing individuals' strengths and potentials. This approach goes beyond treating symptoms to actively cultivating happiness, resilience, and personal growth. By exploring what makes life most worth living, Positive Psychology helps clients build a more fulfilling and optimistic life.
