Hi there! I am a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) in the state of Florida. I received my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2019 from Nova Southeastern University. I have been working in the recovery field since 2019 and currently work as the clinical director at a treatment center in south Florida. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I teach day-to-day goals, reinforcing skills related to sobriety, healthy habits, and self-care routines to those struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we will begin with brief introductions and work to develop rapport, trust, congruence, and understanding of the therapeutic process. We will discuss the reasons you are seeking therapy and what you are hoping to gain from therapy. We will work together to construct individualized goals and identify a plan of action to take towards achieving these goals.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Working with clients from different walks of life, varied beliefs and values, mental illnesses, and adverse childhood experiences, I provide empathy in recognizing we are all just trying to figure this life out the best we can, understanding the importance of having connection to others, and feeling heard and understood. Therapy can sometimes feel awkward, scary, and increase our feelings of anxiety. I provide a warm, open environment where we can work together to achieve what it is you are set to accomplish on your current path in life whether that be to lessen feelings of anxiety, move past an unhealthy relationship, develop a better sense of self, or cope with major life change.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use cognitive behavioral therapy in session as a way to identify negative thinking patterns, and challenge these beliefs. Often we develop negative core beliefs due to unhealthy family dynamics, or social environments that can still be effecting us as adults. With CBT we can learn to develop better thinking patterns and habits that will improve daily life.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Dialectical behavior therapy helps us in individual sessions to manage intense emotions and challenge our feelings. With DBT we learn better emotional regulation, how to properly assert ourselves, and lower impulsive behavior. DBT is helpful for a wide range of mental health concerns such as bipolar, PTSD, anxiety, personality disorders, and substance use.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing takes into consideration how difficult it is to make life changes. Utilizing MI in individual sessions helps to increase internal drive to change behaviors, and work towards a personal goal. Motivational interviewing focuses on what you are wanting to change, and allowing you to voice freely why you are wanting to make these changes and the need for change. With MI the focus is on you and why you are wanting this, while focusing on how to make this change.

Psychoeducation

I use psychoeducation in individual sessions to provide education on different mental illnesses, treatment modalities, coping skills, community health, and many other topics. Psychoeducation empowers you to make your own decision on how to best move forward.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution focused brief treatment is used in individual sessions to help you set goals and work out how to achieve them. Solution focused therapy focuses on the solution rather than being stuck on what the problem is.
