Hello! My name is Shelly. I am glad you are here and reaching out for support. My mission is to help you make the changes in your life that will result in you feeling better and resolving your concerns. Together we will explore your goals and life purpose and consider the best ways to make them become real. My approach includes solution focused methods that involve filling your toolbox with skills for practicing healthy boundaries, assertive communication, mindfulness, and coping strategies to manage the symptoms that are causing you difficulty. I look forward to meeting you! Namaste

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will spend time discussing what is bringing you in for counseling and what goals you would like to achieve while you are here. We will likely identify some skills that you could start using to begin making changes right away.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My strengths lie in my ability to tailor each session to your needs and whatever you have going on in the present moment. I also will encourage you to do the difficult things that may not be comfortable for you, but will bring about the changes you seek. I am in long term recovery from addiction and have a lot of experience in utilizing skills to maintain sobriety, set healthy boundaries, address codependency, and to speak assertively. I am big on listening to how your body is providing feedback and learning skills to reduce symptoms of anxiousness. I also utilize affirmations, mindfulness and positivity to reframe your thinking, increase self-esteem, and reduce negative thoughts and low mood.

Mind-body approach

I will help you explore the relationship between your mind, body and soul to discover solutions for your concerns. We will look at the way you are responding to stimuli and how your body and mind are giving you feedback. It is important to learn skills to manage your emotions, reduce stressors, practice setting healthy boundaries, and honoring yourself and your own needs over codependent tendencies. We will specifically discuss what you have going on in your life and we will find solutions to help you feel better.
