Hello, my name is Karen. I am an Independent Psychotherapist in Cincinnati, Ohio. I earned a Masters from the University of Pennsylvania through their advanced standing program in one year with a specialization on Mental Health and Addictions. Previous to that I earned a Bachelor's at Northern Kentucky University and graduated with honors. I place great pride and passion in helping individuals and couples that may be struggling with chronic stress, depression, anxiety, addiction, relationship issues, PTSD and complex trauma. My clients range in all ages and I utilize a multi-dimensional approach to the therapeutic process. I have worked with all populations providing integrated services in clinical, outpatient, inpatient, and school settings, as well as with the homeless population. I have also worked with all socio-economic backgrounds, cultures, disabilities, and religious beliefs. I wholeheartedly believe in providing a therapeutic atmosphere that offers a professional yet respectful environment where we can establish and build rapport in a trusting and safe space.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

You have already taken the biggest and bravest step in reaching out, so kudos to you! During our first session, you can expect to feel heard and validated without judgement, along with some positive feedback that will also include skills and techniques to launch you forward on your healing journey.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

There are several techniques I will utilize to help you with your negative emotions, feelings, and any possible maladaptive behaviors you may be experiencing. Some of the therapeutic modalities include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Narrative Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My biggest strength is that I meet my clients where they are, with an immense level of compassion, understanding, and care. I am very intuitive, and empathic and can utilize my own unique life experiences of hope and healing to further create a warm and nonjudgmental approach to therapy.
