Welcome! I'm a Licensed Counselor in the state of Michigan with 12 years of experience working with a variety of clients. I help individuals work through their struggles by providing a welcoming non-judgmental space. I have worked with adults, children and adolescents. I tailor my techniques to each individual as everyone is different, I empower you to give therapeutic feedback and advocate for the type of care you deserve.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Many people find the first therapy session anxiety provoking, especially if it is your first time. Congratulations on the first step in creating a healthier version of you! During the first session we will review intake information and I will ask follow up information. We will establish treatment goals which can be altered at anytime during treatment.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I work very hard to meet you where you are. Each individual will move at a different pace in treatment and it is privilege to move through this journey with you. I want to create a safe space where you feel comfortable enough to open up to me.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

Many of the clients I work with are struggling with symptoms of anxiety, depression, life transitions and grief/loss. I believe in a true partnership between client and therapist, together we can learn healthier ways of thinking/behaving to work towards treatment goals.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a form of psychological treatment that has been demonstrated to be effective for a range of problems including depression, anxiety disorders, alcohol and drug use problems, marital problems, eating disorders, and severe mental illness. Numerous research studies suggest that CBT leads to significant improvement in functioning and quality of life. In many studies, CBT has been demonstrated to be as effective as, or more effective than, other forms of psychological therapy or psychiatric medications. I use CBT to identify unhelpful ways of thinking and/or behaviors and help clients consider healthier alternatives to create their ideal way of functioning.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing is an “empathic, person-centered counseling approach that prepares people for change by helping them resolve ambivalence, enhance intrinsic motivation, and build confidence to change” (Kraybill & Morrison, 2007). Through MI I may ask open ending questions in order to gain understanding of behaviors. Together we can learn more about what is driving behaviors while increasing self confidence.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I have been using DBT for more than 10 years. This treatment model can benefit many different populations and is considered a more structured approach. Using Marsha Linehan's materials we move through different modules such as distress tolerance , mindfulness, emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness.
