Hello! I am a licensed clinical social worker practicing in North Carolina. I first started my career working with adolescents with behavioral disorder diagnoses. I then spent a decade working with unhoused individuals and families while pursuing my clinical license. I have been fully licensed for 5 years and am excited to embark on this next step in my therapeutic journey.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first sessions, we will start with brief introductions. Then we will explore your goals in therapy and current challenges you are facing. This will help us build a treatment plan to measure your progress toward your goals.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked with individuals experiencing some significant life challenges (homelessness, lack of access to health care), I truly understand starting “at the beginning” so to speak. Reaching personal wellness goals is building on layer upon layer of needs. My decade of experience working with unhoused folks has contributed to my expert ability to move individuals from surviving to thriving.

My treatment methods

Gender-affirming therapy

I understand gender is a social construct. I understand that living your true identity is life affirming and often life saving. In my practice I will address participants with respect including respectful use of pronouns and gender language.

Motivational Interviewing

My past experience includes working with unhoused individuals and families. Once housed, the focus of our time together was moving from surviving to living to thriving. MI is an ideal approach to move through these stages. In our time together, clients and I explore goals and barriers.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Occasionally a person may have a short term goal they wish to address and/or have limited time to engage in therapy for various reasons. Solution Focused Brief Treatment can be an ideal approach to make some progress on your wellness goals. I have found too that for the logistics aligned person, this modality can feel like a good fit for them.

Trauma Informed Care

My past experience includes working with adolescents with trauma history. Also the simple existence of being unhoused can be traumatic not to mention the other human traumas that people experience. I am deeply experienced in trauma informed care and understand the challenge that dealing with past and current traumas can bring. I treatment with a gentle and respectful approach with clients.

Strength-Based

Even when we may feel deeply inadequate, we always carry strengths within us. I consider these our “super powers” and enjoy helping clients explore how to use those super powers for positive change in their lives and the world.
