Jason Czernich is a person-centered, trauma-informed, Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker(LICSW) with more than 11 years of experience in the mental health and human services field. Jason utilizes motivational interviewing techniques with adults and seniors to help them understand, manage, alleviate, and resolve symptoms of depression, anxiety, overspending, grief, suicidality, interpersonal conflict, existential crises, and other challenges they're facing in their lives.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Jason creates a relaxing, safe, supportive, and non-judgmental therapeutic space for clients to discuss their emotional challenges and develop individualized treatment plans specific to their strengths. He believes patience, humor, authenticity, and listening are the most important aspects that he can bring to a client's care.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Jason incorporates an array of evidence-based treatment modalities, including mindfulness-based, positive psychology, psychodynamic, motivational interviewing, meditation, and guided imagery approaches. As a therapist, he also utilizes strengths-based methods such as joining and auspicious regard to build trust and positive rapport between himself and his clients. He was the recipient of the 2018 DCF Commissioner’s Award for the Central Region, as well as the recipient of the 2018 Commonwealth Performance Recognition Program-Citation for Outstanding Performance. He also is a graduate of Second City Chicago's Conservatory program and other improv schools.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is utilized in my practice to help clients examine how events in their lives influence their emotions, thoughts, and actions.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-i)

CBT-i is utilized in my practice to help clients examine their sleep hygiene habits.

Compassion Focused

In my practice a client is accepted for who they are and I always try to provide a safe place in sessions where a client can express themselves openly and freely.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT is utilized by me in practice to help a client with such tools like Radical Acceptance. We also look at how they view the world and interact with others.

Grief Therapy

When clients come to me to process the loss of a loved one, we look at where they are in the Stages of Grief and eventually look at how they will attempt to eventually establish a new normal in the wake of their loved one's passing.
