Hi, I am Denise, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with almost 18 years of experience. Are you struggling in your work or family life? Is it impacting your relationships? Most of us go through life events that leave us battered and bruised but there are some things that we might go through that stay with us and impact our ability to navigate our daily lives. Many of us have experienced that and there is a way to walk through it and come out on the other side leaving the pain behind but keeping the meaningful lessons safely with us. If you have experienced this kind of incident, it would be a privilege to walk that journey to wholeness with you. I provide a safe space to unpack the stress, anxiety and pain that often keep us stuck. Before we begin to open any doors or unpack any spaces, we will talk about self-care, grounding and other techniques to manage overwhelming feelings. Together we will create a place that provides physical and emotional safety, a place where healing can begin.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session, we will spend our time getting to know each other. I want to understand your concerns, values, and goals while we are working together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having grown up in the military and then worked for the Navy, I have a strong understanding of the impact the military lifestyle has on the entire family and enjoy working with military members and their partners, members of law enforcement, foster parents, clients who have adopted or experienced adoption, attachment issues, domestic violence victims and their partners, and those who have experienced severe/long-term trauma, developmental trauma, and dissociative identity disorder.

My treatment methods

Integrative

My approach to mental health is client-centered and integrative using whatever modality seems to best fit what the client is hoping to accomplish. Some of the options we might include in our work are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, trauma-focused CBT, attachment-focused, emotionally focused, internal family systems, guided imagery, inner child, and somatic work can all be effective. They are tools that can be used and can be changed or adjusted as needed. I am a Christian and when the client desires, that can be included in our sessions together.
