Hi I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in North Carolina. I received my Masters in Social Work in 1998 from Loyola University Chicago. I have been a licensed clinical social worker since 2006. I have been in practice for 18 years and work with children, adolescents and young adults. I have treated many within outpatient psychiatric, hospital, school based, in home, and community mental health settings.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, I will complete an initial assessment which will gather complete mental health history. We will discuss potential goals for treatment that will be both measurable and time specific. Homework could be something that I assign from day one, to get the process started quickly and to determine how invested client will be to this therapeutic process and alliance.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have worked in this field for many years and this is my biggest strength. Due to the various settings I have worked I have treated many different disorders. I have experience collaborating with collateral agencies working to support client success. I have worked with various ethnicities, races, and gender identities.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I’ve been using CBT in my practice for the past 18 years. It’s helped many clients challenge reoccurring thoughts, manage their anxiety and take control of negative thinking. We’ll use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. We’ll then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a less anxious and stressed life.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I’ve been using Solution Focused Brief Therapy in my practice for the past 18 years. It’s helped dozens of clients directly address problems and create a plan to resolve it. We’ll use SFBT to identify patterns and barriers to achieving solutions and develop strategies to clarify and achieve solutions.

Psychoeducation

Traditional psychoeducation promotes collaboration between individuals and therapists by providing knowledge, empowerment, increase and improve understanding and communication. This collaboration leads to better outcomes and more person centered care. I utilize psychoeducation in this manner in my practice.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness based therapy is an approach that incorporates mindfulness practices to promote psychological well being, reduce distress, and enhance self awareness. This practice of mindfulness helps cultivate compassion, non judgement toward personal experiences leading to better functioning and overall mental health. I use this to assist clients with stress reduction, emotional regulation, increased self awareness, improved concentration and focus, increase resilience, and improve relationships.
