I am Frank Ogbonna, a registered therapist with three different licenses namely Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), and Licensed Sex Offender Treatment Provider (LSOTP) in the State of Texas. I have Masters degree in Educational Psychology from University of Port Harcourt Nigeria, Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lamar University, Masters degree in Public Health and Ph.D in Epidemiology from Walden University.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In the first session, my clients notice my motivational traits of concern, commitment and compassion to the treatment of every individual client irrespective of his/her situation. I collaborate with my clients to find roadmap to their recovery goals. I dig deep with my client to explore various situations, trailing issues from childhood, adolescence to their present to discover what I called "life back pack".

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe that there is no substitute to experience and education. My exposure to various setting and dealing with individuals from various cultural background brings exceptional therapeutic process with empathetic perception of issues, and with positive regard and that foster therapeutic alliance easily. Many of my clients find solution to their quest in shorter period.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have been using the CBT protocol since 2008. My practice has been across almost all ages, ranging children in the foster homes to young and older adults in prison and mental health outpatients.

Christian Counseling

I have intercontinental experience in Christian Counseling for thirty-Nine years. My experience cuts across denominations and nondenominational. I have experience in conducting marriage, relationships and family sessions with passion to solving complicated communication and conflict issues.

Couples Counseling

With understanding of personality dynamics, I have used person centered approach, cognitive behavior therapy and other appropriate therapeutic frameworks to direct or redirect couples toward their goals collaboratively.

Multicultural

Due to my multicultural background and competency training, my approach gives my clients confident in non-judgmental therapeutic environment. I approach my clients with positive regard and compassion which foster therapeutic alliance in pursuit of their goals.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Because I believe that every individual is unique and the actor in his/her own life movie, I approach each individual situation with positive regard and therapeutic alliance. This approach enables collaboration in searching for both triggers and solutions in any complex situations and foster recovery faster.
