People choose to come to therapy for a variety of reasons. Do you find yourself feeling depressed or overwhelmed? Do you want to worry less and enjoy life more? Do you want to have better control of your emotions? Maybe you’re struggling to have meaningful, lasting relationships. Whatever your reason, I’m here to provide a safe and affirming space for you to explore, learn, and create a new way of approaching the world and relationships. My approach to counseling is collaborative and trauma-informed. I utilize emotion-focused, attachment centered strategies to help people identify how past experiences and relationships influence how they respond to others and the world. I have experience in treating mood disorders, eating disorders, body image concerns, substance use issues, life transitions, relationship issues, and trauma. I believe connection is essential for healing- we never do big things alone! The power of the therapeutic relationship is essential to achieve the change you are looking for. I strive to provide a safe and nonjudgmental space for you to explore life’s challenges.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

My hope is that after our first session, you leave feeling like you have found a safe space to explore your life’s current challenges. As we continue to work together, I want my clients to feel empowered through the insights they’ve gained, the pain they have processed, and the coping skills they have learned. Therapy is always a collaborative process, so we will continue to assess your needs and goals throughout our time together.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I take an eclectic approach to therapy. I utilize emotion-focused therapy and strategies to explore how our past experiences impact our thoughts, shape the stories we tell ourselves, and influence how we interact with ourselves and in relationship with others. This approach utilizes emotion as the driving force to help us identify unmet needs and build resources to meet those needs. Additionally, I have specialized training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to assist clients wishing to process traumatic experiences that they feel “stuck” in present day.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have had over 5 years of experience working with a variety of presenting issues that bring people into therapy. During this time, I have worked with individuals recovering from substance use issues, eating disorders, and survivors of domestic violence. One of my biggest strengths as a therapist includes holding a safe, trauma-informed space for people to process behaviors that are no longer serving them and assisting them in developing more adaptive coping strategies.
