My therapeutic approach blends both a mind-body wellness with clinical training in evidence based therapies to improve functioning in those I work with. I am here to guide you through life’s most complex and difficult matters and I'm excited to meet you and begin the process of healing and growth.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session will be an intake meeting that is a casual and comfortable discussion that allows me to get to know the reasons you are seeking therapeutic support and gather some background information and history. You will get to know more about me and my approach and we will tentatively identify some therapy goals to begin working on moving forward. If we both feel there is good fit we will wrap up with some paperwork and schedule our next session.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have almost 20 years of experience providing therapy and serving others. Through those wide range of experiences I have developed an foundation of health and wellness that when coupled with evidence based therapies I have found consistent improvement in the lives of those I have worked with. I also have a strong ability to empathize and relate with others who are in difficulty place in life and which is what brought me into the field of mental health, as my own journey towards happiness and fulfillment was not a straight & narrow path, but a path filled with many peaks and valleys.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I believe in having unconditional positive regard, empathy and genuinness for my all my clients through the course of psychotherapy. This approach allows my clients to feel understood and be comfortable with being vulnerable throughout the therapeutic relationship. I adhere to the humanistic belief that my clients are inherently driven toward and have the capacity for growth and self-actualization and I assist in that process through therapy with my clients.

Child Parent Psychotherapy

My focus of parent and/or child sessions can include problem solving, strategy development, parenting skills, family conflict resolution and developmental education aimed at better understanding, addressing and responding to child behavior. I have used these methods with a wide range of families and children to address behavioral, emotional, relational and school based problems with a degree of success.

Grief Therapy

I have worked with many individuals both young and old who unfortunately have had to deal with the reality that comes with the death of family member, friend or community member. I utilize the Kubler-Ross model in effort to support my clients in their journey through the stages of grief and best cope with their loss.

Interpersonal

Through my career in working with many different individuals and families I have developed the belief that psychological symptoms can often be understood as a response to current difficulties in everyday relationships with other people. Through both the exploration of these relationships and development of practical strategies to address interpersonal roles and deficits we relieve symptoms by improving interpersonal functioning through therapeutic sessions.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use cognitive behavioral therapy to reduce a wide range of symptoms from various mental health conditions including depression and anxiety disorders. I believe in developing client awareness of their symptoms through psychoeducation which assists client understanding and engagement in cognitive restructuring to address maladaptive thinking and learning coping skills for their individual struggles.
