Hi! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist- Associate (LCAS-A) based in North Carolina. I received my Masters from North Carolina State University and have been practicing for 3 years. I help teens and young adults struggling with mood disorders such as anxiety, depression, adjustment and substance use disorders become the best versions of themselves.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions. We will work to create a space where you can feel supported and heard. In the first session you can share any concerns or questions you may have. By the third session we will start to develop a treatment plan with goals to help us facilitate a productive experience.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked with teens and adults for the past 3 years, I have come to understand the unique needs of each population and individual. Through extensive training and experience, I have come to understand that through cognitive reframing, development of interpersonal effectiveness and establishment of social supports an individual has the capability to thrive. Our thoughts play a big role in how we perceive and experience the world around us. Through flexible thinking, we can take back control.

My treatment methods

Christian Counseling

When we understand the individual from a systemic approach we are able to understand that there are many parts that make up a person's life. This can be from family, work relationships, friendships, intimate relationships, spirituality etc. Faith and therapy are not so separate, many individuals have a faith that informs their values and beliefs. Throughout my time as a clinician I have met clients who have requested that their Christian faith be integrated into treatment. This provides a sense of support and relief knowing that their provider understands what they believe and knows how to encourage them through it. We will discuss how faith impacts mental health and work to provide biblical and evidence based tools to help empower, encourage and strengthen the client. Utilizing talk therapy, we will work to Christian belief practices by incorporating theological concepts.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is the cornerstone and foundation of present modalities. This modality helps you to understand the level of control you have over the outcomes in your life. We all have those situations in our life that cause us to think, feel and act in certain ways. CBT teaches us how to reframe our thoughts, that our thoughts influence the way we feel and then the behaviors we choose in response to how we are feeling. Having that relief knowing that we are not controlled by our emotions, encourages us to take an active role in our own life and development of perspectives.

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

Working with veterans, active duty military and their families, I was able to sharpen my skills in working with CPT to address the clients index trauma. CPT asserts that by giving you the tools to address the over arching trauma, you will be able to address any other difficult situations in your life. CPT focuses in on intimacy, trust, power/control and esteem. We will work to build up these areas in your life that have been impacted by the trauma you have experienced.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT is an evidenced based treatment that works well with helping the client develop many skills and techniques for their personal lives and relationships. Mindfulness techniques to help them stay in the present moment, interpersonal effectiveness skills to help establish and keep relationships, distress tolerance and emotion regulation when you find yourself in those stressful and overwhelming situations and relationships. DBT empowers the client to be present and take control of their patterns. I have utilized this modality for many years.

Eclectic

I care about the unique experience for my clients. With eclectic treatment, you will be able to experience a more individualized approach with the use of the most relevant evidence based techniques. I have used this approach often within my clinical practice.
