I am originally from Brazil, native Portuguese speaker with a proficiency in Spanish and English, and I have been using these skills to provide counseling services in all three languages. I have been offering psychotherapy services for adolescents, adults, families, and couples. My work is guided by psychoanalytic orientation valuing the ethics of listening and acceptance as a way to assist and access people in their relationships with themselves, with others, and the world. This approach focuses on the unconscious processes and in the singularities of each individual. The main intention is to amplify the life potential in each of us, helping us to understand our responsibility in the way we live, work, suffer, and love. This process can be a liberating experience in that it will not try to adapt us to fixed standards. It guides us to cope with our own way of existing, allowing us to say no to the unbearable and sustain our own position/desire in the world.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In the first session, I dedicate time to get to know you by exploring aspects of your life such as family history, past experiences, and, most importantly, what is causing you to suffer in the present moment. In addition to learning about your story, I provide clarification and guidance on the therapy process, creating an opportunity to clarify your goals and expectations. It is crucial to highlight that my approach to psychotherapy is a gradual process. Each person is unique, and the time required to achieve the therapeutic goals varies. Patience and commitment are important components of this process. That is why a safe and welcoming space for a confidential exploration of your feelings and thoughts is essential, laying the foundations for self-knowledge and transformation. Over time, this process plays a fundamental role in helping you cope with current difficulties, in strengthening your sense of self in the face of adversity, in the understanding of patterns of behaviors, and emotional autonomy. This therapeutic journey can promote a gradual and lasting transformation.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am a licensed professional clinical counselor in the state of Illinois with seven years of experience in providing psychotherapy services to adults, children, adolescents, and families from diverse ethnical and racial backgrounds. I specialized in working with individuals to address depression, anxiety, grief, stress management, intergenerational conflicts, trauma, life transitions, disabilities, addictions, and relationship issues.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

My work is intended for all those who are experiencing psychological suffering and who are willing to reflect on their own story. Whether you need to resolve personal issues or need help to deal with particular complications in marital, family, or work relationships, this approach can be very useful in guiding the resolution of a specific problem and preventing you from becoming immersed in your suffering. My intention is to provide deep reflections that favor contact with the unconscious, which is the means to understand the behavior and the way you express yourself in the world.

My treatment methods

Psychoanalytic

I am certified in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy through the Chicago Center of Psychoanalysis. The Psychoanalytic approach provides a safe therapeutic space to help you explore and understand the roots of your emotional and psychological difficulties, often rooted in the unconscious. In the sessions you will be invited to speak freely and explore both conscious and unconscious domains. Together, we deconstruct certainties, understand and build new paths that have not yet been explored, in a safe and welcoming one-on-one conversation. Psychoanalytic psychotherapy can help you learn to recognize, sustain, and put your emotional life into perspective. It also helps you learn and express your emotions in more adaptive and healthy ways.
