I am Suzi Hartzell, the founder of Anchored, Counseling & Consulting, LLC. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Pennsylvania, with an in-person site based practice as well as an online platform through Grow Therapy. I am on a personal mission to promote positive mental health, healthy individual/family relationships, and thriving communities supporting various clients with diverse needs. I am specifically trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) through the Beck Institute, but well versed in several treatment modialities and as always my approach is based on each individuals needs.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Coming into therapy can be somewhat anxiety provoking.. Meeting someone new, telling them about your life and any issues you are struggling with can feel overwhelming, however, it is so brave! During our first session we will be meeting with each other and going over some really basic information, identifying any issues and goals that you may want to discuss and work on in therapy, why you decided to attend therapy, and how often you would like to be seen. From there we will work on scheduling you for additional sessions in the future.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have over a decade of experience working with a wide range of individuals seeking to better their mental health. As a clinician, I have particular expertise in individual counseling, anxiety, depression, family conflict, trauma, and relationship issues. I have a lot of experiences working in crisis situations which has prepared me to best handle various cases. I worked in a hospital setting for a majority of my career before going into a private practice setting.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Identifying and understanding how our thoughts impact both our feelings and our actions can be so powerful! I love teaching my clients how these three are intertwined and how to be navigate these connections in their every day life, relationships, and goals to alleviate ongoing distress.

Strength-Based

Our world is so focused on the negative it can be challenging to focus on our own strengths.. Through this counseling approach I focus on supporting my clients and helping them to identify and build their strengths in ways that are meaningful to them throughout various aspects of their lifes.

Motivational Interviewing

Learning about the stages of change can greatly help you understand how you function and how you can make improvements in your life you reach your goals. I work together with my clients through these stages of change to help them maximize their potential.

Psychoeducation

Learning about your mental health can be the first step in understanding how it impacts your life. Through psycheducation I can help you better understand what I am seeing from a professional prospective to help you better understand the "why" of how you behave and feel the way you do in different aspects of life.
