Hello, I am Derek! It is so nice to meet you. Thank you for taking the time to explore what Grow Therapy can do for you. I hope to be able to come alongside you and work with you to build a life worth living. Life can be challenging sometimes; however, it does not need to stay that way. Hopefully, we can work together to work through life's difficulties and find new ways to manage them moving forward. A little bit about myself. I spent much of my career working with children, adolescents, and their families. I still really enjoy working with adolescents and adults who face difficulties in life. My focus is working with Anxiety, Depression, and Addiction. In addition to working here, I am an Assistant Professor and teach in a Counselor Education program. I look forward to working with you!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will take some time to get to know a bit about you. I will find out what you enjoy, what are your passions, and what challenges you are facing. This will assist us in creating a tailored plan that we will use for our time together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I feel I am a very positive individual and a good listener. I am very open-minded and non-judgemental. I also bring with me vast experience working with multiple populations.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I feel that ACT can be a very helpful treatment modality that allows you to reshape the way you view the world. This protocol will allow you to face challenges with a different perspective.

Christian Counseling

I feel that the integration of faith into counseling can be very helpful. If you are interested in this, please let me know.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Changing the way we thing about things and how we react to them can be transformational. CBT allows us to rewrite the stories that we tell ourselves, and thing through things differently.

Faith based therapy

Faith is part of our holistic selves. Being able to integrate our faith into counseling can really help with the holistic treatment of our symptoms.

Motivational Interviewing

MI is a great protocol to allow us to explore your motivations and reasons for change.
