*Currently not practicing Couples Therapy* Welcome! My name is Alex Andrade-Lozano and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT #142659, practicing in Fresno, CA. For the past 7 years I have worked with children and adults in individual, couples, and family therapy. I primarily practice Dialectical Behavior Therapy. One of my greatest takeaways from DBT is that each client has a unique life that they want to be living. As your therapist, I hope to help you discover what that life is and help you make the necessary changes to achieve it.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Your first session is the assessment. During the assessment, I will review important ethical information that you need to know prior to beginning therapy. We will have time to discuss your expectations and feelings regarding therapy. This can also be a time to share about your past experiences in therapy and you may share what has or has not worked for you. Then I will gather relevant background information and you will be able to share what brings you to therapy. At the end of session, you and I will collaborate to develop your treatment goals.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe that a therapist is never done learning. I continually seek education, consultation, and to learn from my clients, which allows me to strengthen my clinical skills. I also take an empathetic approach so that clients can experience the therapeutic process in a respectful environment. I believe that my clients know, even in the hardest times of therapy, that I am there to guide and support them through it all.

My treatment methods

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I have completed a comprehensive 16-week DBT course designed to train mental health practitioners on how to effectively treat clients with full fidelity to the DBT model. In my practice, I have found that clients have benefited from DBT as they learn how to accept "reality as it is" and work towards their desired change. Client also learn the difference between "feeling better" vs "better at feeling". After increasing their overall awareness, clients then learn how to regulate their emotions, handle stressful situations, and become more effective communicators.
