Hi, I’m Ashley. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and live in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina with my dog. My passion is supporting people in all stages of life work towards finding purpose and becoming the best versions of themselves. Maybe you can relate to some of my story. I became a therapist in 2019 to give back some of the hope that was given to me as I embarked on my own mental health journey. I remember thinking to myself, “Who am I?”, and “Am I good enough?”. I remember, and still know how that style of thinking can be overpowering, and become what I have learned to call “sticky thoughts”. These thoughts can lead to anxiety, depression, irritability, and can be the root cause of unhelpful coping skills and habits. Once we get into that negative cycle, it can feel impossible to get out. This occurred for many years, and consumed my entire being until I had support from family, therapists, sports coaches, and friends, and reached out for help. Let me tell you from experience, recovery is not easy. Working on yourself is one of the hardest things you can do, but the most rewarding, and I would be honored to walk alongside you as you do this meaningful work.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
In our first session, we will collaborate on realistic "bite-sized" goals that highlight what YOU want to get out of therapy. I place a high value on my relationship with my clients, and work hard to form a trusting working partnership. I describe my communication style as gentle yet straightforward (with a side of dad jokes), and will take time to get to know you, and make. sure that I am able to meet your expectations of me as your therapist.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
My ultimate goal for all of my clients is that they learn that they are deserving of a life where they don’t have those negative thoughts running the show, and that they are are capable of experiencing fulfillment and finding their purpose. I use a compassionate, research-based, person-centered approach in my work. I stay up-to-date on the current trends in the counseling world to make sure I am providing the best possible care. I believe in slow, steady progress that allows for grace and self-compassion. I'm so grateful that you are here, and I would be honored to be your therapist. Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.
I am passionate about working with folks of all ages who are experiencing anxiety, depression, feeling "stuck", are in the midst of a life transition, having conflicts in relationships, feeling out of control, or not good enough. I have experience working in addictions counseling, and eating disorder treatment. My ideal clients are motivated for recovery, and are able/willing to engage in "homework" between sessions when appropriate. They might just not known where to start, which is where I come in.
