My goal is to be a collaborative partner and a support as we navigate through the process of self-discovery, recovery and healing. I am a LCMHC and I have worked for 5 years as a mental health counselor. I graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne in 2019. I started working in a helping profession role over 10 years ago. Before that, I worked in education and taught art and photography. I knew from my role as an instructor that I loved working with people and helping them work toward their goals was my passion.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the intake session it is an opportunity for me to hear about your goals and collaborate on an approach to help you achieve your goals. I will offer evidence-based interventions to help you develop skills and tools that allow to better manage symptoms. We may utilize self-reports in the future to monitor progress as well as check in each session on progress toward goals. You will be able to use and practice skills between sessions and share your experiences in the session.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I work to meet my client's where they are and hear about their needs. I work collaboratively to identify the client's goals. I engage in continuing education learning to keep updated with the latest empirical interventions and findings.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT has a lot of empirical evidence of effectiveness and helps client use skills and tools to manage difficult emotions or deal with unhehelpful thinking styles. I offer tools and skills practice between sessions for the client and then check in around their experience using the tools.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

ACT offers tools and skills much like CBT and has an experiential component as well. Contact wtih present moment, values and other core ACT domains can help people move toward what is important to them in their life and manage the barriers that may get in the way.

Couples Counseling

I work with couples and often use Emotion Focused Therapy to help couples with communication and attachment issues that arise in the relationship. I also utilize other interventions with couples to help address the particular needs arising in their relationship.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT and RO DBT are interventions I use to help with people experiencing under or over control of their emotions.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

IFS has an experiential component and helps people heal from traumas and deal with "parts" that may not be the most effective part of dealing with an issue. We all have "parts" and hearing from them and healing them can be beneficial.
